Friday (8/6/2010) the man who built Orange County Speedway or Trico Speedway as it was know back in the day died. Mr.William' Bill' Jones of Oxford died of natural causes at his home. Mr. Jones traveled up to Hickory Motor Speedway to get the idea for OCS before it was built. I know this because I worked with him for the last several years and heard the stories. It was mentioned at his funeral. Turn 4 sits on a big rock to big to move. He and his workers( operators) drove the doziers that built OCS. He was a good man and I will miss him. God bless Mr.Jones.

The First Annual OCS Junior Drag Race will be held before the race, Saturday, September 18, at Orange County Speedway. It will be a fun and exciting opportunity for some of Orange County’s youngest fans to race their toys out on the racetrack.

The OCSJDR will be held along with the Fan Appreciation $20 Pack the Car Night. FREE Admission coupons located on the website.

The event will consist of children ages 4 to11 years old driving battery operated cars / trucks/ Barbie cars. The junior drag race will begin in turns three and four and will end at the start/finish line.

If you would like to enter your child, then all you need to do is bring out their electric car and fill out a registration form (click registration form or picture above) which can be found at ocstrack.com. There is no entry fee, but participants must pre-register by September 10 and only 15 youth will be allowed to compete. All participants will receive special trophies. Notice to all Late Model and Limited Sportsman Teams:

Effective immediately the following rule changes have been enacted.

Late Model Only:
Ground clearance will be a minimum 12” and a maximum of 13” with driver, to be measured at center of crankshaft pulley to ground with driver in the car.
End of rule revision for Late Models.

Limited Sportsman Only:
a) Ground clearance will be a minimum 12” and a maximum of 13” with driver, to be measured at center of crankshaft pulley to ground with driver in the car.
b) Shocks: Refer to Late Model Rules – Note following exception: Advanced Racing Suspensions 4000 Series with only the approved #40097 Piston (Shock and/or Piston is not legal in any form).
